Bond Slaves- Ruby Newton Memorial Ride for Missions

Written by  Jeff "Bama" Ritch January 1, 2021

13 years ago the Bondslaves MC decided to reach out to the homeless in Birmingham and partnered with the Brother Bryan's Mission downtown by organizing a biker run and bring needed items for the residents. The first run was hampered by the untimely death of Ruby Newton the mother of BS members Mark Newton and wife to Fig Newton.

So for the last 13 years, the now named Ruby Newton Memorial Run for Missions has ministered to the residents of Brother Bryan's. Despite the challenges of 2020 this year's run was a huge success with over 20 bikes from various clubs and ministries riding in unity to remember a great lady for a great mission.

We met at Grace and Truth Church on University Blvd at 1030 took a short ride to the mission and brought them warm winter wear for the cold weather, things like Boggans, thermals, toboggans, cloves, coats etc.

We always hangout and talk to the residents and normally we take a tour of the facility but due to covid we skipped that this year.

After the run we fellowshipped at dreamland BBQ.
