57th Annual O’Reilly Auto Parts World of Wheels - Kansas City, Missouri

Written by  April 22, 2017

During the weekend of February 10 through 12, Bartle Hall in Kansas City was the venue for the 57th Annual O’Reilly Auto Parts World of Wheels. The show is part of the Championship Auto Shows series held in various U.S. cities and Canada. Every year, World of Wheels packs Bartle Hall with sports cars, classic cars, street rods, race cars, rat rods, motorcycles, and vendor booths. I got my $16 discount ticket at O’Reilly Auto Parts and headed for downtown Kansas City on Sunday, February 12.

Feature attractions included 55-57 Chevys, Cavalcade of Customs, Snake Pit, Ol’ Skool Rodz, Lowrider Magazine cars and ladies, 50 Years of Camaro, Gene Winfield’s Chop Shop, American Muscletown, and Pedal Cars.  Celebrities making appearances at World of Wheels included Rick Harrison from HISTORY’s "Pawn Stars", WWE superstar Roman Reigns, former NASCAR driver Mark Martin, Kira Kosarin (Phoebe from Nickelodeon’s The Thundermans series), and Ben Jones (Cooter from “The Dukes of Hazzard”).

It seemed that there were fewer motorcycles than in past years, but there were some really fine ones, some of which have been featured in Cycle Connections. I didn’t see many people that I knew, but I did visit with Kickstand and Zippy who had bikes on display and with Skip and Carrie who were staffing the booth of Central Area Racing Boosters (C.A.R.B.). Folks from Lakeside Speedway were there promoting upcoming events including June 10 flat track motorcycle races.

I enjoyed the show and will be back next year for the 58th Annual World of Wheels.
