Brothers were getting ready for the run and discussing the safest and easiest routes so everyone was on the same page. Unfortunately I could not ride in this event because I haven't got new plates for my bike. The ride to Stells went without incident except for the occasional driver trying to split the pack as I brought up the rear. One brother lost his hat on the way out of the clubhouse but another brother stopped to pick it up for him. We arrived at Stells but had accidentally forgotten the cards at the clubhouse so brothers had to handle the situation. This was my first time here and their bikes lined a good portion of the entryway of the shopping center. It was a very nice establishment with a very cute bartender. We stayed for about an hour before heading to the VFW. The veterans were very welcoming as they represented each branch they served. Combat Flags lined the walls with pictures of fallen soldiers, most likely from the area, were set high in an honorable manner. Brothers mixed in well with their fellow brothers in arms at the tables clothed in our national flags colors.
I met a new brother from The Brethren of Widows Sons and we were shooting it talking about Chevy and Ford engines, and most of our previous issues with them. We talked most of the time and I learned of their upcoming charity run that benefited Children’s scholarships near their clubhouse.
We stayed for an hour as well before heading to Stagger Lee's Lounge which I always heard of but never had been to. It was a pretty nice dive bar and I'm guessing brothers frequented as well because there was a Saints MC support shirt mounted on the wall.
One of my main brothers from Brownsboro just showed up with his ole lady. They spread out the bar and took advantage of a cold drink giving the heat and humidity of the day. Thankfully I was writing all of this and didn't have to get whooped on at pool. They actually had a Shuffleboard, which I haven't seen in an establishment since my early twenties.
The Juke box turned on and of course they were playing their favorite classic rock songs and even singing along with the bartender. Everyone was showing love and mutual respect.
We took the final roll back to Westside clubhouse where the partying commenced, but unfortunately I had to leave and return to my family in Huntsville.
Congrats to “Jethro”, winner of both, the Poker Run & Bike Show!
We would like to thank the Saints for not only ALL that you guys do, but also for sharing that with all of us. And thank you, Michael Thomas Hodge for this article and pictures!
