American Legion Riders Host 911 Ride

Written by  September 30, 2018

On Sunday, September the 9th, 2018, the Legion Riders joined forces for a ride in remembrance of the 911 tragedy and all of the lives lost that day.

All of the local American Legion Post got together to organize not only this ride but lunch for everyone when they got to the end destination which was the Legion Post #255 in Fultondale, Alabama. The other posts involved were, the Legion Post in Fairfield # 347, the Legion Post # 107 in Leeds, and Post # 171 in Eastlake.

The ride started at the Legion Post # 137 in Fairfield.

In route to the final destination, they encountered RAIN! It left everyone scrambling for a dry spot to get their rain gear out & on...at least for those who had them, like the escorts did!

But a little rain wasn't going to put a damper on this day of comradery! The ladies at the post there in Fultondale laid out a really nice spread of food that greeted the riders as they arrived. So everyone could refuel before diving into the many door prizes they had to give away, but the most important give away was still to come; the “Booze Basket" raffle, which all 5 of the Legion Posts contributed to.

In the mix of donated items for the raffle was a priceless book that had been secured by one of the Legion riders who had passed away, it was a book compiled of stories and pictures from the actual 911 event, what an awesome gesture that was and a treasured gift for sure going home with one very lucky person.

Everyone waited in anticipation of hearing their name called as the winner of the HUGE Booze Basket was called out, well everyone still had to wait to see who that winner was as he WASN'T there! They did call him though and ended up posting a picture and telling us all it was Tony who won that glorious basket filled with libation!

The 50/50 winner donated back their over $200 winnings!

It was a really great day hanging out with an awesome group of folks!
