Writer's Ramblings

Letter From the Editor

Written by  December 31, 2017

I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I’m excited to start the New Year off with a big announcement! My business partner Dennis and I have decided to hand off the Cycle Connections baton to our good friends and longtime staff members Lynn Reynolds and Leigh Lilly. As many of you know, Lynn and Leigh have been with the magazine for years, and have covered numerous events for us in and around the Birmingham, Alabama area. Being down south also enables them to take advantage of pretty much year-round riding when it comes to event coverage. Super jealous!

Therefore, starting today, January 1, 2018, Lynn and Leigh will assume all day-to-day management and operations of Cycle Connections, which will free Dennis and me up so we can focus on some new and exciting projects we’ve had in the hopper for some time now. You’ll still see us out and about at many of the upcoming motorcycle events in and around the KC area, and we also plan to attend even more of the larger national motorcycle events now that we will have more time to travel.

I especially want to thank all of our wonderful advertising partners, and our incredible staff for the last 15 years of helping us make Cycle Connections what it is today. This includes our Senior/Senior (inside joke) Photojournalist Stripe, who’s dedication and friendship goes way beyond the magazine, as well as our Senior Photojournalist Dr. Lonnie Blum, our monthly Women Riders columnist Louise Reeves, videographer Randall Hauk, our studio photographers Dick Carlson and the late Bruce Stimpson, photojournalist Eric Miller, account representative Wally LaFond, and numerous others who have dedicated so much of their time and effort to making Cycle Connections the largest and most read online motorcycle in the country.

So what do I plan to do with all this extra time you may ask? For one, my family Nichole, Skye and I also plan to spend more time on the road on our motorcycle and in our motorhome. Needless to say, we’re very excited to have the opportunity to travel and see even more of our beautiful country while we’re still alive and kicking! I wouldn’t go as far as saying I’m “officially retiring,” so let’s just say I’m “semi-partially-retiring.” LOL

So without further adios, we’re proud to turn over the Cycle Connections reigns to Lynn and Leigh! Have fun guys. We know you’ll do great!
