Readers and their Rides

Uno and His 2003 Custom Harley-Davidson Sportster Chopper

Written by  July 31, 2010

Over the past several months, I've run into Tim Gillham a.k.a. UNO at numerous events he and his Bikers Against Child Abuse (B.A.C.A.) brothers have attended. UNO is from Excelsior Springs, and this year I've gotten to know him even better while chewing the fat at some of our local bike night hangouts. We featured UNO's buddy Spike in the Readers & Their Rides section of last month's issue, so not to be outdone, I met up with UNO a couple weeks ago at the Brass Rail to interview him and take a few photos.

CC: UNO, what is your occupation?
UNO: I’m a tech at AIPC.

CC: Do you have any hobbies other than motorcycling?
UNO: Yes, I like off-roading and building bikes.

CC: How long have you been riding?
UNO: I've been riding about six years.

CC: What was your first bike?
UNO: The one I’m on now.

CC: How many bikes have you owned?
UNO: I’ve owned 6 bike.

CC: How many bikes do you currently own?
UNO: I own three bikes right now. I have a '73 Ironhead Sporty, an '01 Buell Blast and my '03 Sporty.

CC: What do you like most about your Sporty chopper?
UNO: It’s paid for and it’s mine, and because I’ve done all the work on it myself.

CC: What is your dream bike?
UNO: A big old fat dresser so the wife will shut up about my current ride. LOL.

CC: What is your most memorable riding experience?
UNO: The first time I rode in Bikers for Babies. I had never been in a big crowd before, and the fact I had only been on a bike for less than 30 days.

CC: What is your least memorable riding experience?
UNO: Wrecking my bike on I-35 in Liberty. Not one person stopped to see if I was alright. I picked myself up and still rode to southern Kansas and back before going to the ER. Hey…a kid needed me and I was there for them.

CC: To what motorcycle clubs or organizations do you belong?
UNO: I belong to the B.A.C.A. KC Chapter.

CC: What motorcycle rallies & events have you attended, and which is your favorite?
UNO: A few B.A.C.A. rallies and a few small ones.

CC: Do you have a favorite bike night hangout?
UNO: Stables. Hey, a fat man needs to eat and they have good food and good people.

CC: How many tattoos do you have, where are they located, and which is your favorite?
UNO: I've lost count of how many . They are all over, and my favorite is the one on my chest, which is to remember my Grandpa.

CC: Who is your favorite tattoo artist?
UNO: Well, you would have to ask me that. I would say Spike because we think alike and he’s my lil' bitch. LOL!

CC: Do you prefer riding in a group or by yourself?
UNO: Depends on the mood I'm in.

CC: Who are some of your closest riding buddies?
UNO: Spike, Mr. Mink, Thrasher, Deadman, Spider, Bull and a few others. They know who they are.

CC: Well UNO, is there anything else you'd like to share with our readers?
UNO: Yea…NO CHILD SHOULD LIVE IN FEAR, SO KEEP YOUR F*CKIN' HANDS OFF OUR KIDS!

CC: UNO, thanks for taking the time for this interview and keep up the great work with B.A.C.A. Spike also told me he was still pissed that you stole his idea about adding a really cool skull headlight to his bike. LOL!
